Bedale’s long history of supporting local insurance brokers is set to continue despite two major firms pulling out of town.
Father and son Mike and Dave Scanlan, who between them have almost 40 years experience in the insurance industry have decided to set up their own insurance business after Mike’s employer BiB (Darlington) announced closure of their Bedale office in December. This was then closely followed by the closure of the NFU Bedale office in January.
Mike Scanlan said: “Bedale is a great town with a thriving community. e strongly believe in helping local people and businesses by providing professional advice.
“We have offered insurance services to the people of Bedale and the surrounding area for nearly 20 years and would like to carry on doing so.
“Dave and I have worked together before and we are very excited about this new venture.”
Mike and Dave have elected to open their business under a Coversure Franchise.
Dave added: “We are very aware that the people and businesses of Bedale will be looking for good quality insurance cover at a fair price.
“Our aim is to provide this with our first class personal service. By setting up as part of a national franchise with almost 100 branches and over £100m insurance premium business we are able to retain the independence of a local broker but provide access to deals usually only available to large national firms.
The new office – Coversure Bedale – based at Bedale Hall, is now open.
