Ripon charity the Walled Garden Scheme has branched out with a new social enterprise by stocking and selling a wide-range of daffodil bulbs.
The bulbs will be on sale to the general public at the new shop at the scheme’s Palace Road base.
The scheme has been helped in its new venture by established Ripon gardener and retailer Richard Heslerton, of RH Gardens, who has been trading under the name ‘The Daffodil Man’ on Quarry Moor Lane for the last few years.
A regular exhibitor at the Harrogate Autumn Flower show, he has provided the charity with around 40 different varieties of daffodil bulbs.
Well-known varieties such as Golden Harvest are available, as well as rare ones such as Tahiti and Mount Hood.
The Walled Garden Scheme is part of the Ripon Community Link charity and works with adults and young people with disabilities from the Ripon area providing work experience, work placements and training within horticulture and similar skills.
Proceeds from the daffodil sales will be ploughed back into the charity.
l The Walled Garden is open seven days a week from 10am - 3pm and can be contacted on 01765 609229.
