Firefighters have allowed a barn fire to burn out at Snape Lodge Farm, near Bedale.

Crews were called to the farm at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, November 1, where a 20x30m barn and 700 bales were well alight.

They were joined by firefighters from Northallerton and Boroughbridge, but decided to let the flames burn out under supervision and used pitch forks to break up the burning hay.

By 1pm the next day only a small proportion of the bales were still smouldering, a fire service spokesman said.
