Harlow Hill Allotment Association and Harrogate Council stage a site open day at the Green Hut, Harlow Hill tomorrow (Saturday).
This year’s event will be opened at 1.30pm by the Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate, Coun Geoff Webber, and will celebrate some great achievements over the last few months.
Lynne Hallums, the council’s Assistant Community Liaison Officer, said: “Harlow Hill Allotments Association, supported by Harrogate Council, submitted a successful application to Awards For All for funding earlier in the year and received 5,000 towards a composting toilet and replacement fencing.”
She added: “They were the first council site to receive such funding and it comes as no surprise; they are a very proactive and committed group who have been awarded Best Kept Allotment Site by Harrogate In Bloom and Highly Commended by the council in the past few years.”
There will be plenty of activities for adults and kids alike with a magician on site, tombola, home-baking, crafts and home-grown produce for sale, along with free leaflets and general information.
Any money raised will be shared between Harlow Hill Allotment Association and the Green Hut community site on Beckwith Avenue.
