It’s not a big place but its acoustic music festival already has a huge reputation - BAMfest is back next week and it’s been boosted by its big name sponsor in more ways than one.
Taking place in Bedale from next Friday, May 30, Masham-based brewers T&R Theakston Ltd are not only backing this three-day festival financially, they’re also organising a bus service for music fans!
The line-up of this second annual event is simply superb. To name but a few: The Blues Band featuring Paul Jones (ex-Manfred Mann and current Radio 2 DJ), The Men They Couldn’t Hang, Martin Carthy, The Young’uns, Jez Lowe, BabaJack, Dave Kelly, Gary Fletcher, Duncan McFarlane Band, Pilgrims’ Way, The Whiskey Dogs, The Haley Sisters and The Conspirators.
Acts will be appearing on the main festival site, a 250-seat marquee at the Big Sheep Little Cow farm in Bedale.
There will also concerts at The Riverside Club and at three local pubs – The Green Dragon, The Three Coopers and The White Bear – plus a town stage and in local cafes.
Carol Clark, the chairman of BAMfest, said: “This year we have more than 60 performers and lots of family-friendly events so that the whole community can enjoy the festival.
“With the help of Theakston’s we are working hard to make the festival even better than last year.”
BAMfest’s biggest day is the Saturday when there are six concerts scheduled plus lots of other activities for children, a town trail, folk club and workshops.
Carol said: “We are delighted that Theakston’s are putting on a bus to bring people from Masham to Bedale on the Saturday. We are sure they will have a great time.”
As always, BAMfest boasts an eclectic mix of acts. Other names set to appear include Wendy Arrowsmith, The John Richards Trio, The Goat Roper Rodeo Band, The Jon Palmer Acoustic Band, Sunjay Brayne, Mic & Susie Darling, John Knighton, George Papavgeris, Keith Kendrick & Sylvia Needham, Rooster’s Cat, The Backyard Buskers, Bob & Gill Berry, OK Brandy, Uketopians, Hornbeam Molly, Zeke Deighton Kelsey Main, Gina McCann, the Bedale Brass Band and more.
