North Yorkshire’s only four day music event, the Willowman has moved location to a custom built show and events venue.

Hillside Rural Adventure Park will now host the summer solstice celebration of music and local produce.

Centrally placed between the historic Yorkshire towns of Thirsk and Northallerton the new site boasts flat camping areas, panoramic views of the Hambleton hills, campsite water points and easy access from the A19.

Willowman director Steve Williams said “The Willowman festival has gone from strength to strength since its inaugural outing in 2010 and we felt it was time to move the event to a site which was more able to cope with the demands of a professionally run, family orientated festival.

“Ease of access, well drained car parks and nice flat camping areas might not sound very rock and roll but the modern festival goer expects to attend safely organised events at fit for purpose locations.”

To celebrate its third year the festival has also added two new stages. Axis Sound System and Creative Intentions Chill out Café.

“We have given the Willowman a major facelift to mark its third birthday,” said Steve. “Classic Jamaican inspired beats and gentle acoustic vibrations will complement the eclectic line up to be found on our main and willowy wobbly bar stages.”

Axis founder Dr Huxtable has invited a few friends along to perform over the four days, including Bigga Shakatone, Mikey D.O.N, Emjay and Big Toes Hi-Fi.

Creative Intentions Chill out Café promoter Brian Barnes said: “I am over the moon to be involved in this year’s Willowman Festival, having played the first Willowman back in 2010, I am delighted to have been asked to put together a programme for the Acoustic Cafe.”

The event runs from June 21 -24. Headline acts include Utah Saints, Vintage Trouble, Jah Wobble, and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Adult tickets are priced at £70 for the four days.
