It’s first come, first served for a special free concert in Harrogate of Gilbert and Sullivan this weekend.
As a taster for the The 21st International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival which will be staged in Harrogate for the first time this August, organisers are offering an entertaining programme of highlights at the Royal Hall this Sunday.
The free event will include a semi-staged Trial by Jury followed by a selection of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites.
The participants will include principals from the Royal Northern College of Music; representatives from the annual youth production and well -known festival fersonalities.
Ian Smith, festival founder and chairman will act as host for the evening.
August’s G&S extravaganza will feature more than 60 full-scale performances in the Royal Hall, Harrogate Theatre, as well as Newby Hall, Fountains Abbey and Ripon Cathedral.
It’s the first time organisers have held this internationally important arts event in the district after 20 years in their home town of Buxton.
Seating on Sunday is unassigned but visitors must have a ticket to enter.
