Ripon Racecourse is preparing for its annual dose of glitz and glamour with Ladies’ Day just over a fortnight away.

For this year’s event, taking place on Thursday, June 18, the Boroughbridge Road venue has teamed up with a new sponsor – Yorkshire-based Browns Family Jewellers.

The new sponsorship partnership will see Browns Family Jewellers take naming rights to the day along with sponsorship of three races on the card, including the feature race – The Brownsfamilyjewellers.co.uk Handicap Stakes.

Esther Myers of Browns – whose newest branch is on Harrogate’s Beulah Street – said: “We are very excited to have teamed up with Ripon Races to hold the first ever Browns Family Jewellers Ladies’ Day.

“It will be a great opportunity for racegoers to view our exclusive jewellery and meet Browns staff. We feel Browns will add something very special to the already well-known ‘Royal Ascot of the North’ at Ripon Races.”

The afternoon’s entertainment starts in the racecourse’s Ladies’ Day Marquee with “Magician to the Stars” Paul Lytton entertaining guests before racing.

Guests will also be able to enjoy music throughout the afternoon from Harrogate-based duo, Frankly Jazz.

The ‘Best Dressed Lady’ and the ‘Best Hat’ competitions will take place during the afternoon, with a cash prize of £500 for Ripon’s Best Dressed Lady plus an 18ct white gold diamond teardrop cluster pendant valued at more than £1,000 courtesy of Browns Family Jewellers.

She will also receive an automatic entry into the Grand Final to find Yorkshire’s ‘Best-Dressed Lady Racegoer’ held at Doncaster in October and the chance to win the overall prize of a luxury spa weekend, £500 of fashion vouchers and diamond jewellery worth £2,500.

The winner of the Best Hat competition will receive a private millinery taster course for herself and three friends at the studio of Harrogate milliner Jenny Roberts, where they will design and create a headpiece of their very own and be introduced to the world of making hats

There will be seven races on the day with the first taking place at 2.10pm. More details at www.ripon-races.co.uk
