Thirsk Ritz Cinema was the setting for a band’s latest video.

Hungry Ghosts from York chose the volunteer-run cinema as the venue for the video shoot for their second release Cinema Boy.

Hungry Ghosts, who last year shared stages with the likes of The Hoosiers and The Charlatans, were looking for a venue to shoot a promo video for the single.

Thirsk’s Ritz Cinema ticked all the right boxes as it still had film projectors and many period features such as the split auditorium with a balcony and the lit ruched curtains.

Ritz projectionist, Graham Denison, suggested they might like to see inside the projection booth.

Whilst there they learnt how to ‘fire up’ the projectors and so look natural in the environment, all adding to the finished video.

The band said they thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Ritz and timed it just right, as within weeks, the Gaumont Kalee projectors will be removed and replaced with digital equipment.

The Ritz volunteers said they were very pleased with the bands promo shoot, and wish them every success.
