Almost 90 MG cars descended on Fountains Abbey on Sunday, September 16, for an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the MGB sports car.
The gathering of 184 motor enthusiasts from across the North of England raised around £330 for the Help for Heroes charity through event entry fees and a raffle.
The day included afternoon tea and cakes in the lecture theatre of the World Heritage Site’s visitor centre, where the MG owners were joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Ripon, Coun Andrew Williams and Pascar Moyo. Following the refreshments the Mayor and Mayoress went to inspect the MG cars which had assembled in the visitor centre’s coach park.
Organiser Derek Burnell said: “The day went well – we wish to thank the staff of the National Trust for their helpfulness and all the organising they did.”
A merchandise sale by Help for Heroes volunteers at the event raised a further £170 for the charity.
