SUMMERBRIDGE-based Eye Spy Gallery has launched a limited edition print by international artist Rebecca Chesney.

Having spotted the Bombus paintings at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Sally Stephenson, the new gallery’s director, approached Rebecca to see if she would like to create a unique print for the gallery based on the bees and Rebecca said ‘yes’.

The result is Bombus x 9, an original limited edition print illustrating the different stripes of nine British species of bee.

Chesney has been exploring and exhibiting her view of the natural world since the 1990s.

Born in Lancashire, working throughout Europe, Japan and America, she has exhibited her work and ideas in a range of formats including photographs and temporary installations and artwork for the windows of the Fourth Floor Restaurant in Harvey Nichols, Leeds.

Rebecca recently completed a year-long residency at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park culminating in an exhibition, Diligent Observation where the Bombus images were displayed.

The bee images are also being used digitally to help navigation in a part of Great Ormond Street Hospital, arranged by the Axis arts organisation based in Leeds.

In support of this, Eye Spy Gallery is supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital by donating 100 per cent of the proceeds of the sale of every tenth print to the hospital’s fundraising campaign.

Eye Spy Gallery offers a carefully-curated collection of art prints exclusive to Eye Spy Gallery by a variety of artists, designers and illustrators.

Stephenson, with the help of creative director Kate Dundas and finance director Jane Stephenson-Smith, aims to find intriguing, quirky and interesting pieces of work.
