A GARDEN fete held in Masham has raised more than £1,500 for the Help for Heroes charity.

The event – organised by Morris Lumley of the town’s Royal British Legion branch – was held at Nutwith House, on Millgate, and featured brass band music by Northallerton Silver Band and traditional Nepalese dancing.

There was also a plant stall, a hog roast and bar, raffle, and a tombola featuring more than 100 prizes.

The total amount raised by the garden fete was £1,543.
