MEETING held Tuesday June 15. Chairman S. Priestley introduced Ruth Briggs who works for the ‘Make a Wish’ charity. This worthwhile charity grants a wish for children with a life threatening illness aged from 3-18 years and each wish costs about £3,500, the most popular being trips to Disneyland Paris and Florida, swimming with the dolphins, being a princess for the day and meeting celebrities and footballers. The charity started in the USA in 1980 and now involves 15 countries, large companies such as Cadburys and Fairy Liquid with the head office in Surrey. A vote of thanks was given by Linda Heaton. The minutes from the last meeting were read and members were reminded that the next meeting will be held on July 13 when last minute arrangements for the Tockwith Show held on August 7 will be discussed. Finally a diary note entry for the Christmas party to be held at the Bridge Inn Walshford on December 7.
