WORK BEGINS this Monday, July 26, to improve road safety in Tadcaster by constructing a dedicated route for pedestrians and cyclists along Leeds Road.
Its primary aim will be to make travelling between the town centre and Tadcaster Grammar School safer for all road users.

North Yorkshire County Council will construct the joint pathway and cycleway on the northern side of Leeds Road.

A ‘Toucan crossing’ will be installed to link the new route with existing sections of footway and cycleway already in place along Toulston Lane and the A659 Leeds Road.

A high voltage electricity cable will have to be diverted as part of the project.

“As always with improvement schemes of this kind there will inevitably be some disruption,” says County Coun John Fort, Executive Member for Highways.

He added: “Where possible, drivers are urged to seek alternative routes to avoid delays.”
