Endurance athlete Caroline Livesey got her preparation for next year’s world championship underway in fine style coming third in a recent Ironman competition in Turkey.

Finishing with a time of 4:34:34, Livesey raced to a podium finish in the gruelling, yet beautiful, Antalya competition.

This particular competition was only a half Ironman but she still finished just seven minutes and 55 seconds behind the leader.

Livesey said: “I was really pleased with my results in Turkey, the place was like a holiday resort and it all came together really well.”

Having narrowly missed out on the World Championships in Kona this year, due to a lack of training time, Livesey is thankful for having a full year to prepare for the next running.

Between August of this year and August of next year, the top five Ironmans Livesey competes in will determine whether she gets a place in the World Championship.

She will be judged on her best three half marathons and her best two full marathons.

Next up for Livesey is an Ironmen event in Malaysia on November 14 but she is having to travel without her ever-supportive husband Mark.

“It will be a shame not having Mark with me,” she added.

“I hope it isn’t too hot over there.”
