Ripon’s Bastow storms Wasdale Fell as Green bags third in Leicester

Ripon Runners’ Gary Bastow continued his impressive season with second place in his veteran 50 age category at the Wasdale Show Fell Race on Saturday.

Bastow completed the 2.5 mile and 2400 foot ascent route in 18th in 49 minutes 44 seconds.

Derek McCreadie was the first Ripon Runner home at Sunday’s hilly Richmond Castle 10k in 39 minutes and 20 seconds. Sharon Barlow Hamilton finished first in her age category in 39.20.

Anthony Jefford (39:52), Joe Lofthouse (41:37), Steve Smith (43:09) and Peter Brodie (49:11) also competed.

Neil McNish took top honours for Bedale and Aiskew Runners in 42:13 and 44th.

Paul Ellis (43:41) and Chris Appleton (52:05) also featured..

Tori Green continued her preparations for this Sunday’s York Marathon by competing at the Leicester half marathon,

Green was third female overall in 1.27.56.

Hannah Tankard smashed the four hour barrier at the BMW Berlin marathon in Germany, running home in three hours 53 minutes.

Bedale athletes also tackled the Wistow 10k and Heather Halliday finished fifth and first over 50 in 40.10.

Pete Richardson ran three minutes faster than last year in 47.30.
