Harrogate Hockey Club’s men’s side return to action on Saturday after the winter break with their focus firmly set on climbing into a promotion place.

After a decent firest half of the campaign, Luke Lambert’s side sit in fourth position, just two points behind Bowdon in second, after a run of four straight North Division One victories before Christmas.

Harrogate host Leeds at the weekend (1.30pm push back) and will be looking to set the record straight after a disjointed performance at Weetwood saw them fall to a 3-2 defeat.

Leeds were bottom of the table that day and have also gone on to beat leaders Formby, however those two wins remain their only triumphs of the season as they look to avoid relegation.

But the Ainsty Road side will be without Stuart Norman and Russell Bowen, although they are hoping to welcome back Olly Clarke and Mark Gibbons who were unavailable before Christmas.

Meanwhile, Harrogate’s ladies side make the short trip to Wakefield on Saturday (3pm push back) where they will hope to start the second half of the season with three points.

Harrogate sit seventh in the North Division One table after an inconsistent first 11 games which saw them win five and lose five, during which they only found the back of the net 18 times.

A victory for the women could lift them to fifth position and set a good platform for the rest of the year.
