Boston Spa club toast Yorkshire win

Girls from the North Leeds Gymnastics Academy in Boston Spa were announced Yorkshire Team Champions at the Women’s Artistic Four piece competition held at Rotherham Gymnastics Club.

Competitors from across the county contested the women’s apparatus, floor, beam, bar and vault, to decide who were the team champions in Yorkshire at level 6.

The U-12s team made up of Anna Dobson, Eleanor Horner, Holly Jakeman, Joanna Stephenson andKirsty Young had the highest score across all of the pieces of apparatus and brought home team gold.

Individually the girls also secured a number of medals - Kirsty Young took silver on beam with a graceful yet pacey routine and Kirsty also performed beautifully on bars to secure the silver medal.

Holly Jakeman danced and tumbled her way to the gold medal on floor and Eleanor Horner powered over the vault to gain the gold medal.

With strong scores on all pieces and great performances from all members of the team, the gold team medal was attained and a plaque awarded to North Leeds Gymnastics Academy.

Lisa Ann Davis, Head Coach at the North Leeds Gymnastics Academy said:

“We are absolutely delighted with the results, the girls have worked hard for them and it is wonderful to see them do so well. As a relatively new club to four piece competitions to come top in this category is credit to all the effort the girls put into their training. The gymnasts have done exceptionally well and are already keen to get back in to the gym to learn some new moves to take to the next round of competitions.”

The North Leeds Gymnastics Academy is based at Boston Spa Comprehensive and has a number of classes for all kind of gymnasts.
