A FLU bug has swept through the Northallerton camp but captain Paul Dixon is hopeful after a week's rest his squad will be fit and raring to go for tomorrow's trip to Rotherham Phoenix (2.15pm ko).
North’ didn’t have a fixture at the weekend to the relief of their skipper, as the cold snap hit the Brompton Lodge outfit hard.
However now they should be rested and raring to go according to Dixon who is looking for an immediate response on the
pitch.
The side has also been boosted by the signings of former Thirsk Falcons footballer Liam McCalmont who plays at fly-half and fellow fly-half Tom Mortimer with competition high for a starting place.
Last year’s captain Iain Townsend is unavailable this Saturday but Dixon should have a strong side to take down to South Yorkshire.
“They are a good side and I think they’re in second or third in the division this season,” he said.
“We didn’t play them in the league last year but we did in the cup. It was a close game and we know they’re a good side and a good set of lads.
“They always seem to be stronger at home. Away they don’t seem to be as good because it’s a long way for them to travel to each game.”
North’ need to a victory to propel them up the Yorkshire Four table something Dixon is desperate to achieve starting tomorrow.
“It’s important we bounce back in form,” he added.
“We didn’t have a game last weekend which was probably a good thing because it gave us another week to get over this flu bug.
“Hopefully we’ll be all over it now.”
