Four new restaurant chains have been confirmed for the former Beales site which is due to open next year.

Yo Sushi, Byron Burger, French brasserie Côte Bistro and Argentinean restaurant CAU have all taken units in the £10million new development which will also feature an Everyman Cinema.

The Buenos Aires inspired CAU restaurant’s Harrogate branch is the first announced for the North of England.

Paul Lancaster, managing director of 4Urban Consultants said: “They are great brands, bringing a great offering to Harrogate.

“We have said from the out set we are going to raise the bar in Harrogate and we are on the way to delivering that.”

There are still five units available, though more announcements are expected in the next few months.

Work to demolish the former Beales store began earlier this month, and is expected to accelerate this weekend with large scale demolition of the building.

Planning permission for the new £10m complex, to house a four-screen arthouse cinema along with nine restaurants or bars, was unanimously passed last September.

Meanwhile on Parliament Street developers have started fitting out the new Nandos restaurant, though the peri-peri chicken chain has not yet confirmed an open date.
