A 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a road accident in Patrick Brompton.
The woman, from the Cambridge area, was in a Toyota Prius travelling along the A684 towards Leyburn at around 2.30pm on Thursday, October 13, when it was in collision with a HGV travelling towards Bedale.
The woman’s car then went out of control and collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro van head-on.
Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman from her car before she was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with what police are describing as “relatively minor” injuries.
The HGV did not stop at the scene of the crash, and police are appealing for the driver or any other witnesses to come forward, as it is highly likely the driver did not know the collision had taken place, a spokesman said.
The HGV was light blue and would have suffered damage to the rear of the driver’s side.
The van driver was also taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
Witnesses should contact TC Tony Leonard of the Richmondshire Road Policing Group on 0845 6060247, quoting reference 12110173672.
