A nine-year-old girl has suffered a serious injury to her ankle after she was hit by a car in Ripon.

The collision happened on Fishergate on Saturday, September 13, at around 12.30pm, when the girl was hit by a silver 4x4 near Specsavers.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.

Police officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them with information. In particular, they are trying to trace the occupants of a road maintenance vehicle which was parked up close to the scene of the collision.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Steve James or Harrogate Roads Policing Group.
