Ripon’s Walled Garden scheme is set to open a new shop in the city this weekend.

The shop, at the project’s Palace Road site, will sell produce from the scheme’s own garden including apple juice, jams and preserves, as well as normal garden supplies such as seeds and bird food.

The shop will also be stocking Christmas produce including craft items and plants and flower arrangements.

The official opening is set to take place on Saturday, December 3, from 10am.

The garden will also be open for visitors to look round the Christmas trees and wreaths, and displays of the scheme’s home-grown fruits.

Hot refreshments, mince pies and mulled wine will also be served.

The scheme’s organisers hope in the long-term the shop will offer retail training for young people and adults with disabilities.

With all the proceeds being ploughed back into the Walled Garden’s funds, sales will also help fund the charity’s work around Ripon.

The shop will be open Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm, and on weekends from 10am to 3pm.
