A NEW body has been launched to run Masham’s historic town hall.
The Masham Town Hall Community Charity (MTHCC), established in March, will combine the management and programming functions of the town hall charity as well as the fundraising power of the Town Hall Association – the group behind Masham Steam Engine Rally, to be held this year on July 21-22.
A public meeting is to be held to launch the MTHCC in the Town Hall on Thursday, May 24 at 7pm.
MTHCC Trustee Flo Grainger said: “The formation of the new charity has taken seven years, so we are delighted to be able to hold this event at long last.
“With an equally overdue Main Hall upgrade, and the building’s centenary imminent, this is a very exciting time for the Town Hall and for the people of Masham which it serves.”
The new charity will also have an up-to-date constitution, financial efficiency as a limited company, and greater community involvement through four sub-committees covering Finance, the Building, Marketing, and the Steam Rally.
The public meeting will give the new charity a chance to introduce its structure, and appoint new Directors / Trustees. There will also be a presentation about improvements to the Main Hall, which it is hoped will commence this summer and for which significant funding has already been obtained. The meeting will be followed by drinks and nibbles.
Details of how to become a Director/Trustee are available from the Mashamshire Community Office or Nick Reed, Clerk to the Trustees, on 01765 689702.
