North Yorkshire County Council and Hambleton District Council have new leaders.
Councillor Cliff Trotter has been elected chairman of the county council for the next 12 months, while Bridget Fortune takes over at Hambleton District Council.
Coun Trotter, who represents Pannal and Lower Wharfedale, takes over from county councillor John Fort.
Coun Trotter is a former milkman, and bicycle shop owner as well as being passionate about junior football.
He is the founder and chairman of Harrogate Junior Football League and chairman of the Harrogate and Wharfedale Junior League’s under 8s and under 9s.
He is founder and president of Pannal Ash Junior Football Club, which he started in 1978.
It was Councillor Trotter’s activities with Pannal Ash which led to him receiving the BBC’s Unsung Hero of Sport award for the Yorkshire Region in 2009.
Councillor Trotter has been a Member of North Yorkshire county council for 16 years. He is also a Member of Harrogate Borough Council where he has served as mayor.
The vice chairman of the council for the coming year is county councillor Bernard Bateman, who represents Ripon North.
Councillor Bridget Fortune has taken over as civic leader of Hambleton District Council for the coming year.
Mrs Fortune has been a district councillor since 2003, representing the Rudby ward.
She will be accompanied by her husband, Mike, during her year of office.
Councillor Bob Baker, a ward member for the Thorntons, was made vice chairman.
