MP’s new role

BOROUGHBRIDGE MP Andrew Jones has taken up a new role in the Department for Transport.

He has been promoted to Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Secretary of State for Transport, MP Justine Greening.

The role will see him acting as a link between the cabinet minister and backbench MPs and people around the country.

Mr Jones, who was previously PPS to the Minister of State for Enterprise, said he was looking forward to having more involvement in an area in which he has already taken an interest.

“I was surprised and honoured to get the call asking me to take on this new role and it is one which I am keen to do well,” he said.

“Transport is critical for the economic growth of our country and for enabling us to compete internationally.

“While this is a role with greater responsibilities in Parliament, my main priority remains the Harrogate and Knaresborough constituency and the people who – like me - live there.”
