Residents’ views are being sought on plans to enhance green spaces in and around Northallerton.
The Northallerton Environmental Enhancement Initiative aims to encourage people of all ages to work together to improve Northallerton’s natural environment and to recognise the area’s cultural and architectural heritage.
A number of potential sites have already been identified but local people are being invited to suggest other areas that may offer potential opportunities and put forward ideas as to how they could be used, managed and maintained in the future.
Later this month those initial plans will be on view at a special consultation event .
The members of the team behind them will be on hand in the upper hall at Northallerton Town Hall from 9am until 3pm on Wednesday May 23.
The scheme is supported by North Yorkshire County Council, Broadacres Housing Association, Hambleton District Council, the York and North Yorkshire Probation Trust, North Yorkshire Police and HMP Northallerton.
Several community organisations have been involved in its planning including the Northallerton & Villages Community Forum and Northallerton Blooming Together.
The local Safer Neighbourhood Team and the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service will be at the event to provide advice on crime prevention and fire safety.
For more information e-mail Cllr.firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07729509175.
The consultation event is sponsored by the Co-Op with support from Northallerton Town Council.
