Harrogate has been named as one of the best places to live in Britain by the Sunday Times.

Harrogate features in the guide yet again and is amongst 15 areas in Yorkshire and the North East to make the top 101 places to live.

The list of 101 areas uses data such as crime rates, house prices, school performance and places were selected for offering the best quality of life combining desirable features such as a positive community spirit, good local shops and services and attractive outdoor spaces.

Harrogate Mayor Mike Newby said “We didn’t need the Sunday Times to tell us that Harrogate is one of the best places to live, we know that already!

“Harrogate is a beautiful place to live and a place where the community works together and volunteers work really hard to make it a great place.”

He added: “I am Harrogate born and bred and I am still here and that reflects the fact that I have not found somewhere else I’d rather live. I have moved away before but always come back to Harrogate.

“Just this last week the sun has been shining and all the crocuses are out on the Stray, the place looks so wonderful and I don’t think anyone will find anywhere looking better than this.”

Harrogate is no stranger to accolades and in the past year has been named as the happiest town to live by Rightmove, the third most romantic destination by Secret Escapes and the place to get the best night’s sleep .
