Get your teacher to the top of the class!

Enter your teacher in our Teacher of the Year competition.

The North Yorkshire News Teacher of the Year competition is being launched – and we are calling on youngsters across the region to honour their favourite classroom hero.

The contest aims to find the area’s best and most deserving teacher who offers invaluable help and support by making lessons and homework fun, taking pupils on great trips or allowing them the chance to showcase their sporting skills.

However, pupils can nominate their teachers for any reason.

Have they given up their own time to run an after-school club or even organised school trips?

Maybe they have been especially thoughtful and caring during the last year?

To enter the competition you can either write to us as an individual or a class, but there must only be one nomination per pupil.

Don’t worry if you are too young to write much - just a few words will do, explaining why your favourite teacher deserves the title, or you can draw or paint a picture.

Include the entry form below with your letter, or you can email your entry, including the details contained in the form.

We will publish a supplement, containing nominations and pictures of the teacher and class, before presenting the winning teacher with a framed certificate, a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine. The winning school also will receive a £100 book token and a full page spread, including pictures of the winning teacher and their class, along with those who nominated them.

To enter your teacher click here and print off the form

The closing date for entries is Wednesday February 22, 2012.
