Teamwork added up to success for students as they spent the day embroiled in mathematical conundrums.
Mathematical construction with sticks, computer house-building, tests of memory, origami, constructing a box and other puzzles and problem solving were among a host of activities in a special maths day for Year 7 students at Richmond School and Sixth Form College.
Sixth formers helped teaching staff stage the event, which was designed to stimulate interest in mathematics and promote teamwork among the 250-strong year group.
Assistant head teacher Scott Lunn said: “Students formed teams of five of mixed abilities.
“They were challenged and stretched mathematically but the event was also designed to be great fun and promote competitiveness and teamwork.”
