Final preparations are being made for this year’s festive markets in Thirsk and Northallerton.
Hambleton District Council markets are operating as normal throughout the Christmas season with the exception that there will be no Monday market at Thirsk on Boxing Day (Monday 26 December).
Due to the success of last year’s Festive Open Market at Thirsk, a second is being held on bank holiday (Monday 2 January), which is open to any trader – regular or casual as long as they have public liability insurance.
Traders are being asked to pitch up and book a stall and for shoppers to venture out and support their local market.
Councillor Nigel Knapton, portfolio holder for governance, said: “The weekly markets sell everything from cauliflowers to cards, socks to sweets and purses to plants.
“They are well worth a visit, you may pick up some great Christmas presents and are supporting the local economy at the same time. Northallerton operates on Wednesday and Saturdays and Thirsk Mondays and Saturdays.”
