A host of innovative fundraising initiatives dreamed up by residents of Spofforth, near Wetherby, are set to take place this spring.
Professionals living in the area have come together in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, and each will be taking part in different money-raising activities.
Dentist Andy Ruffell, who works at the Otley Road Dental Practice in Harrogate, will cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End for the charity, and managing director of Ethos Corporate Finance in Leeds Chris Silverwood has pledged to donate money raised from the firm’s golf day in June.
Mr Silverwood, who is coordinating the fundraising events, said: “It is fantastic to see a community coming together like this to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
“So many people’s lives have been touched by cancer and they have experienced first hand the superb care that Macmillan nurses deliver to cancer patients and their families.”
A quiz and auction taking place at Spofforth Memorial Hall on March 29 will also contribute their proceeds.
Topping the bill at the auction will be the chance to win a meal cooked at home by owner of Harrogate’s Montpellier Street eatery and chef Tom Van Zeller.
Mr Silverwood said: “Between Dr Ruffell’s intrepid bike ride, the Ethos golf day, and the auction we hope to raise enough money with our charity extravaganza to make a real difference.”
