Budding young cricketers have been able to spend the summer practising their batting skills thanks to a council grant.
To help with the development of the increasing number of junior and young players at West Tanfield Cricket Club, the club bought mobile batting practice nets in time for the start of the season, from Hambleton District Council’s Small Grant Scheme.
Chairman Christopher Newton said: “The need was identified by the fact that we didn’t have any practice facilities and we have a growing number of players who are eager to further develop their skills. The mobile nets are brilliant for a small club as they are easy to store and give our young players more sporting opportunities as well as keeping them physically active. We are grateful to Hambleton for the grant.”
