Budding Hambleton sports stars have been given a financial boost from the District Council.
Twenty five young people now have access to free training at local leisure centres through a £7,000 funding package.
The youngsters, aged from 10 to 17, show their talents in 16 different sports including athletics, cricket, rugby, cycling and triathlon.
Some of them compete in more than one sport and ten of them already compete at national level for their discipline.
Through the district council’s talented young sportspeople scheme, the athletes each receive a ‘fastcard’ which gives them free use of selected facilities at its leisure centres in Northallerton, Bedale, Stokesley and Thirsk as well as the Galtres Centre in Easingwold – a saving of £276 a year.
