Hairdressers at a Harrogate salon are putting their hair dryers to good use later this month when they set about raising money for two local charities.
Staff at Halo Hair and Beauty are holding a blow-dry-a-thon, raising money for Harrogate’s Acorn Committee and Dementia Forward.
The team will blow-dry hair for three-hours non-stop beauty therapist Julia Hennessy will be taking place in a manicure marathon.
Salon owner Joseph Ferraro said: “We are hoping to raise as much money as possible from our blow-drying charity night and Santa Fun Run in Ripon. It will be a real team-effort from us all at Halo for two very worthwhile causes.”
Chair of the Acorn Committee, Louise Hanen, said: “It’s wonderful when local businesses support us in this way. The money raised will have an immediate and very positive impact in the local community.”
The Acorn Committee raises money for people with dementia and their carers in the Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby areas, and for research into scleroderma disease research. Since its foundation, by Louise Hanen in 1999, the charity has raised almost £1m.
There are still some blow-drying slots available for the fund-raising event. Anyone interested should contact the salon on 01423 524787 or visit www.hahaha.co.uk.
