Children and staff at a Masham primary school are celebrating after scoring an “outstanding” report from Ofsted inspectors.

Kell Bank primary school in Healey was visited by inspectors for two days in July, and teachers and pupils returned to school this week to find their school rated at the highest possible grade - outstanding. At its last inspection three years ago it was rated good.

Headteacher Kathleen Allison said the whole school community is “chuffed to pieces” with the accolade.

“We are all extremely pleased, and it’s nice to be recognised by Ofsted for all our hard work.

“It’s been a collaborative effort by pupils, staff, parents and governors because we are very much a community school,” Mrs Allison added.

Along with the overall outstanding result the school’s early years foundation stage was singled out for praise.

With only 33 children on the register, community involvement is a big part of Kell Bank’s life, Mrs Allison said, so they were pleased to see their place in village life recognised.
