The weather smiled on the celebrations for Sowerby Nursery’s 40th birthday.

Scores of mums, dads and children came along for the fun day which featured music from Thirsk Royal British Legion Band.

Also at the event were ‘Pippa Pig’ and ‘Ten Ten’ who wandered round giving hugs.

There was also a bouncy castle and Magic Marvin’s fun magic show entertained children with jokes and tricks.

There was also a barbecue and the Gymfantastic gym group performed some of their routines.

Inside the nursery visitors could admire a new banner created by the nursery’s children who had drawn images which banner-maker Viv Chapman turned into the elements of the banner.

The nursery currently operates from a portable building near Sowerby Community Primary School but is seeking to replace it and so is in the process of raising funds towards the project.
