The 14th annual Rotary Technology Tournament will be hosted by St Aidan’s CE High School.

The event, on Tuesday, February 10, is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Harrogate Brigantes, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Ripon Rowels and Lower Wharfedale.

Around 25 teams of students aged 11 - 18 years, from ten schools in Harrogate and beyond, will go head-to-head to test their logistical and practical skills in this annual tournament.

An event spokesperson said: “The challenge combines a number of skills in a fun

way.

“Design and technology skills will be required, together with innovation, communication, problem solving, decision-making, risk taking and creativity, if the goal is to be achieved.

Each team also must produce a written design and construction portfolio to show clearly how they arrived at their finished model.”

A panel of judges, selected for their knowledge and professional experience in business, will consider the portfolio and working model from each team.

The Mayor of Harrogate Coun Jim Clark and sponsors from Claro Engineering Ltd, Energyline Ltd. or The GSM Group Ltd will present the trophies.

This annual event is built upon the Harrogate Brigantes club members’ vision following a similar initiative from Rotary clubs in the Home Counties.
