PUPILS from North Stainley CE Primary School Council learnt on March 29 that their lucky number had been drawn from the school lottery. Chair of Governors Richard Plummer donated the number 29 to the school council last year.

The school council has received over £100 from the school lottery and have decided to divide the money between buying equipment for the playground and sponsoring Anthony, a boy in Malawi the children have supported for the last five years.

The Friends of North Stainley School established the lottery last year and a draw takes place each quarter. The lottery is supported by parents, governors, staff and local residents and funds raised are used to purchase new IT equipment and to maintain the extensive IT suite the school established last year. Numbers for the lottery can be obtained from Friend’s treasurer, Mrs Andrea Mansfield on 01765 635276.

Mrs Mansfield said: ”The school and the Friends are well supported by the local community, in the past we have hosted afternoon tea events and made the draw, these have been very popular. The March draw was a bonus draw as it marked the first anniversary of the lottery, so I was delighted to announce that the school council were the winners.”

The Friends’ next fundraising event is joint with St Mary’s Church on Monday, May 7 when the popular car boot sale will be held on the North Stainley Recreation Ground, starting at 7am. Refreshments and tombola will be run by the Friends.
