Launched in 2001, the charity aims to ensure every schoolchild has access to learning technologies, bridging the divide to make sure all digital, irrespective of their background, can have the same access.

Marking this 15th year of supporting schools, during which it has established one-to-one programmes where every child has a computer to use at home and school, the foundation has launched its regional champion awards.

Harrogate Grammar finance director Steve Howell said: “Harrogate Grammar School is delighted to receive this prestigious award.

“Students here continue to benefit from having their own mobile device to aid and enrich their learning experience.

“We receive many approaches from other schools exploring one-to-one technology and are always happy to assist if we can.”

The award is given to schools in recognition of their commitment and success in setting up a truly inclusive programme and embedding it into the everyday learning of alof all of their students.

An e-Learning Foundation spokesman said: “The benefits that technology can offer are considerable, as can be clearly seen at Harrogate Grammar and where it has been taken on board in a fully inclusive way.

“Many schools have still to embrace the benefits that technology can bring and we are proud to hold up our regional champion schools as shining examples of what can be achieved and encourage them to share experiences.”
