Debbie Grogan won the race for best dressed lady at Ripon’s Ladies Day fixture.
The 46-year-old had travelled from Sheffield for the meet and was due to meet her husband Steve at the racecourse but he was held up at work.
But luckily Debbie, a regular racegoer and one time racehorse owner had the consolation of winning the coveted Best Dressed Lady award.
“This is now the second year in a row he has done this to me,” said Debbie.
“It is proving to be a lucky omen though, as last year I won the prize for the best hat.”
Debbie won a two night stay at the Swinton Park Hotel in Masham and a hair cut and colour at Peter Gotthard Hairdressing, of Harrogate.
Her prize also included a manicure and pedicure at the Skin Sanctuary, Harrogate and £50 of betting vouchers, courtesy of totepool.
Debbie also qualifies for a place in the final to find the Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire which takes place at Doncaster racecourse on September 8, during the St Leger Festival.
Ripon’s Ladies Day once again coincided with Ladies Day at Royal Ascot but Debbie said: “Winning the Best Dressed Lady competition topped off a fantastic day.
“The sun shone and all the ladies looked fabulous. Who needs Royal Ascot?”
