Northallerton and District Voluntary Service Association (NDVSA) is holding two events on Wednesday December 5 in Northallerton Town Hall (Upper Room).
In the morning (10.30am–12.30pm) free refreshments and mince pies are available to anyone who would like to find out about the range of local volunteering opportunities available in the Northallerton and Bedale areas. “Please come in and chat to our staff about what volunteering you can do locally to help your community”
Lizzie Clapham, acting volunteer centre co-ordinator, said: “Volunteering is a great way to keep active, help your local community, get out of the house, develop skills, knowledge and experience and meet new people.
“Time commitments range from helping with one off events to contributing a few hours every week.
“Whether you are an individual, organisation or company this is a great opportunity to find out how you can get involved. There is no need to book just call in and find out more.”
In the afternoon (2pm–4pm) there will be a ticketed Christmas Mingle for all the volunteers who support the organisation’s Community Visiting, Carers Respite Sitting, Bedale Mini Bus and Community Car Schemes.
“Our volunteers regularly give over 12,000 hours of their time supporting these schemes each year,” added Lizzie.
