A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing more than £3,000 worth of meat from a butcher’s shop in Boroughbridge.

The burglary at J & L Meats on St James’ Square happened some time overnight on Saturday to Sunday, January 24-25.

Following police enquiries, a 19-year-old man from Northumbria has been arrested in connection with the theft.

He has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the burglary to contact them with information.
