Ripon Civic Society has played host to a French business studies graduate researching Yorkshire’s high streets.
Maxime Giboulot was also looking at the health of the civic societies movement during his stay.
A graduate of the University of Besançon in eastern France, Maxime is spending 13 weeks working for the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Civic Societies (YHACS) as an intern. He has visited many of the civic societies in the region, and was in Ripon to hear about the city from the chairman of Ripon Civic Society, David Winpenny.
“He asked me about the state of the shopping area in Ripon, and whether it was reviving or declining,” said David.
Maxime will show his interim findings at a meeting of YHACS in Beverley where the guest speaker will be The Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP.
