Harrogate’s only Grade 1 listed building, St Wilfrid’s Church, celebrates 100 years of serving the community in 2014.
And the church has organised a series of events to mark the centenary, officially celebrated on June 11.
Guests due to visit the Duchy Road landmark during the year include the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of York, David Hope, and Mark Sowerby, bishop of Horsham and former Vicar of St Wilfrid’s.
Team Rector Father Gary Waddington said: “We want everyone to share the joy of Christmas as we begin our year of celebration.
“This building has been in the heart of the community here for a hundred years and we want to invite the whole community to celebrate with us!”
Over 1200 Services take place within the church each year – as well as concerts and other events.
The Hall, attached to the church by a cloister is increasingly used by a wide variety of people from the local community.
The church is open for visitors and as a space to pray every day
