A drawing by a pupil from a Ripon primary school has been chosen to appear in an estate agent’s corporate calendar that will be displayed in homes and businesses throughout the region
Leading estate agent Dacre, Son and Hartley invited hundreds of school pupils from across West and North Yorkshire to enter the competition and draw a picture depicting their favourite day out.
In all, 270 children entered and six-year-old Inga Nowika, of St Wilfrid’s Primary School, who drew a beach scene in Tenerife, was selected as one of the 12 winners.
Chris O’Mahony, associate at Dacre, Son and Hartley, presented Inga with an artist’s hamper and she also won £25 worth of vouchers for the school’s art department.
He said: “We always pride ourselves on working closely with the communities in which we operate and it’s fantastic to be able to involve local schools and encourage pupils to participate in this creative competition.
“The Dacres’ calendar has been produced for more than 20 years and until recently featured cartoons of historic events and characters.
“Last year was the first we engaged with local schools and I am delighted that we have done so again this year.
“All of the entries were of an exceptional standard so Inga has done extremely well to become one of the 12 chosen winners. Her drawing will now be seen in thousands of locations throughout the region when the calendar is published next month.”
Inga’s headteacher, PeterBurdekin, said: “We actively promote creative thinking among our pupils and we were delighted to see how much they all thoroughly enjoyed working on the drawings.
“We are very proud to have a pupil from St Wilfrid’s named as a winner.”
