Planned extensions to a Masham quarry should be screened from view, the parish council has said.
Lafarge Aggregates has applied for permission to extend their work at Marfield Quarry on the A6108 north of Masham.
The extension would see quarrying on the west side of the A6108 and an under-road conveyor belt constructed to move material between the two sites.
However, the proposals do not include plans to plant trees around the site to hide it from public view.
At a meeting on Monday, July 4, Masham Parish Council decided to ask that screening trees be included in the works.
The parish council now plans to write to Harrogate Borough Council giving its support for Lafarge’s application only if the trees are planted along the west of the A6108 as has been done at previous phases on the quarry’s development.
