£1m revamp of offices is the biggest in years

The largest refurbishment project for many years on pre-let office space is being undertaken at Jesmond House in Harrogate.

The £1 million revamp will overhaul the interior of the 13,000ft sq offices to provide modern accommodation over three floors for many of North Yorkshire County Council’s Harrogate area staff.

The project, which is being wholly funded by the landlord, is being overseen by John Webster and Paul Beckett of property consultants Carter Jonas. A range of local experts are working on the renovation, including builders Houseman & Falshaw, project consultants Crowther Turnbull Booth and Seven Architecture.

Mr Webster said: “This is the largest refurbishment project for many years on pre-let office space in Harrogate and we’re delighted to be involved. Work has started on the project, with the interior being ripped out, and new windows are set to be installed shortly.”

County council staff will be housed in 30 Victoria Avenue during the refurbishment, and are due to move back to Jesmond House in August.

County Coun Carl Les, executive member for corporate services, said: “North Yorkshire County Council is very pleased to be working in partnership with Carter Jonas on this office refurbishment project, and is grateful to the building’s owners for ensuring, with this refurbishment, that the council’s staff will have a bright modern environment in which to work.”
