Animal lovers are being urged to join the Blue Cross for their annual open day and fun dog show fundraiser on Sunday August 16 at Thirsk Farmers Auction Mart.

The popular show includes fun classes including fastest sausage eater, waggiest tail and owner who most looks like their canine pet, as well as offering free microchipping for dogs.

Emma Pannell, Centre Manager at Blue Cross in Thirsk said: “We are looking forward to seeing lots of animal lovers at this year’s summer fundraiser.

“We hope to see lots of dog owners take advantage of our free microchipping offer to protect their pet.

“We hope to see lots of dogs who we cared for at the centre to see them happily in new homes.

“Everyone is welcome and every penny we raise really does make a difference in helping us to care for more pets.”

Gates open at the Thirsk Rural Business centre in Blakey Lane at 11am and entrance is £2 for adults and £1 for children and concessions.

All funds raised on the day will go towards the care of homeless dogs and cats staying at the charity’s animal rehoming centre in Topcliffe.
