A Northallerton beauty salon has won a national prize from a therapist favoured by royalty.

Blink Beauty, in Romanby, Northallerton, clinched the Best Overall Salon at the Heaven annual awards.

Heaven was set up by Shropshire and London-based beauty therapist Deborah Mitchell, who has treated Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Kate, Duchess of

Cambridge. Her bee sting skincare products are also well-loved by actress Gwyneth Paltrow and designer Victoria Beckham.

Joanne Thompson, who owns Blink Beauty, went to the ceremony at Gentings Hotel in Birmingham, where she beat about 100 other salons for the coveted glass trophy.

“The best salon was the final award of the evening and it came as a huge surprise to win it. I had no idea we were even being considered,” said Mrs Thompson, who has run Blink Beauty for the last five years.

A spokesman for Heaven said Mrs Thompson’s business was chosen because of “her outstanding work ethic, her efficient and cheerful personality on the telephone, her successful salon and website”.
